摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) channel monitor in which effective utilization of a capture memory is attained and the number of idle cells is recognized. SOLUTION: Communication data received from an ATM channel interface I/F 12 through an ATM channel 16 are given to a physical layer processing section 13, in which a physical layer is controlled synchronously. A cell synchronization function applies synchronization control to ATM cells and a cell number counter of a micro processing unit(MPU) 10 counts the number of ATM cells including idle cells. An idle cell eliminating function eliminates the idle cells and the counted ATM cell number is stored in an event number of the capture memory 11. Capture data are read out of the capture memory 11 to a RAM 4 through a RAM 9 and an event number including the idle cells is displayed on a display device 7 under the control of the MPU 2.</p>
