<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the same level of color S/N and luminance sensitivity or over in this filter as the case with a color filter with excellent color reproduction by specifying relation of signal quantities obtained from each image pickup element and a spectral transmittivity of a magenta element or the like so as to reduce a vertical correlation chrominance error. SOLUTION: The color filter is configured as its basic configuration to be a matrix form where color elements are arranged in 2-columns and 4-rows, the 1st row and the 3rd row include repetition of magenta elements and green elements, the 2nd row and the 4th row include repetition of cyan elements and yellow elements, the spectral characteristic of the magenta elements has a maximum transmittivity in excess of 70% at wavelength 400-500nm, and a difference between the maximum transmittivity and a minimum transmittivity around a wavelength of 540nm is about 65%. In the case of picking up an image of an achromatic object, let a signal quantity of each color obtained from each of corresponding image pickup elements through each color element of the filter be respectively Mgs, Gs, Cys, Yes, then relations of Mgs≈Gs and Cys≈Yes are in existence. Thus, the vertical correlation chrominance error is reduced and the color S/N and the luminance sensitivity of the same level or over as those of a conventional color filter are obtained.</p> |
