The container is designed to protect a fire extinguisher from mechanical impact and chemically aggressive or corrosive atmospheres. The container consists of a cylindrical body (2) with hemispherical ends (3), enclosing a rigid and sealed chamber for the extinguisher (6). It has an aperture (5) giving access to the extinguisher, covered by a sealed door (7), and fixings to attach it to a support. The access door is hinged to the container and has a transparent window (10) or is made wholly from a transparent safety material. The door has a fastening (9) and a retaining strap (18) made in the form of a curved strip pivoted to the upper end of the container. The container can be made, for example, from resin reinforced with glass fibres or moulded and reinforced polyester, or from steel, stainless steel or aluminium, and painted red.
