PURPOSE:To economically obtain cyclohexanedicarboxylic acids in high purity and yield by hydrocyanating and fractionally distilling 4-cyanocyclohexane and then hydrolyzing the resultant compound. CONSTITUTION:4-Cyanocyclohexane is hydrocyanated using a 0-valent nickel complex and a promoter and the resultant dicyanocyclohexanes are then fractionally distilled and purified. The purified compounds are subsequently hydrolyzed with an alkali or acid to afford the objective substances. The hydrolysis with the alkali is carried out at 50-200 deg.C by using a hydroxide, such as sodium hydroxide, at 0.5-2 ratio of the base equiv. to the nitrile equiv. of the dicyanocyclohexanes. The hydrolysis with the acid is performed at 70-200 deg.C by using a mineral acid, such as hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, as a 5-75wt.% aqueous solution thereof at 1-20 molar ratio to the dicyanocyclohexanes. |
