A well information transmission system includes a transmission line (7), which connects a downhole measuring device (3) to the surface, and a downhole connector (6) with one part (9) fixed to the line (7) and engaging a second part (5) fixed to the measuring device (3). The novelty is that the line (7) is a fibre-optics line, the connector (6) is an electrical contact type connector and the first connector part (9) includes a transducer for converting the electrical measurement information into optical information and/or vice-versa. Also claimed is use of the above system for (a) transmission in a horizontal well logging method, the measuring probe being fixed to the end of a pipe string and displaced by adding or removing pipes and the line passing from the string interior to the annular space through a side entry sub; and (b) transmitting measurements carried out by sensors which are located along a production tubing and which are connected to a well bottom electronic unit including the connection to the transmission line.
