The tyre monitoring system delivers a signal representative of the state of inflation of each of the tyres on a motor vehicle. Simultaneous measures are taken of the pressure in all the tyres, and the values compared to detect any discrepancy. At regular intervals the measured values are stored to maintain a history of the operation of the tyres. If any variation is detected either by comparing tyres pressures or compared to the stored values, an alarm is sounded. The preferred direct comparison is between tyres on the same axle, or by summing the pressures of all the tyres on the vehicle . The alarm threshold is between 3% and 7% of the normal values.
