In a process for generating superheated steam (9) by the heat-treatment (1) of waste with the release of heat, especially by burning the waste, in which at least saturated or wet steam (4, 5) is generated in a boiler of a heat-treatment plant and is superheated in a superheater (9) remotely fired by gas, to avoid the use of a fossil fuel, the superheater (9) is fired by bio-gas (10) generated in a bio-gas generating plant (12) fed with a bio-mass (11).
