An apparatus and method for measuring the temperature of diesel fuel within a fuel injection pump (1) is disclosed. The pump (1) has wet (12) and dry (9) sides. The dry side (9) contains the electronics (6) necessary to run the pump (1), and has no diesel fuel within it. Fuel is present in the wet side (12). Pins (14, 16, 18, 20) pass, in a sealed manner, from the wet (12) side to the dry side (9), and are provided for the purpose of passing electrical signals from the electronics (6) in the dry side to sensors (29) in the wet side (12). The pins (14, 16, 18, 20) are metallic, and are in contact with the fuel in the wet side (12). A thermistor (50) is mounted on one of the pins (14) and is used to measure the temperature of the fuel. <IMAGE> |
