The tab includes a flat plate which fits into the space provided for a conventional tab. The plate is hinged (6) transversely and can be manually flipped through 180 degrees, between a position which prevents recording of the tape and a position which allows the tape to be recorded on. The plate moves transversely to the cassette. A lip at the outer edge of the plate allows it to be displaced manually. The edges of the plate have small studs (5) which engage in oval slots formed on the sides of the recess (7) which houses the mobile plate. The plate can be removed completely for permanent blocking of recording.
