CONSTITUTION OF MIP MAP/LIP MAP TEXTURE LINEAR ADDRESSING MEMORY AND ADDRESS GENERATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently storing texture arrays in a memory with respect to a method for plotting a three-dimensional object having texture. SOLUTION: The linear address constitution physically stores a MIP map and a LIP map in a memory. Data arrays obtained by subsampling the MIP and LIP maps are successively stored in a continuous subsequence of a memory address continuing sequence. The subsequence of addresses is allocated in the order of subsampling levels of data arrays constituting the MIP map or LIP map. In the case of the LIP map, data arrays are grouped so that the subsampling levels of respective groups in a 1st direction are made equal, the subsequence is allocated to the data array of each group and the addresses of the subsequence are allocated to spans in each group based upon a span reference.
