PORTABLE CARD READER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader to be easily operated by a left-handed person as well as a right-handed person. SOLUTION: A portable card reader body 10 has card slots with card insertion ports opened on both the sides and is mounted with key switches 80 and a display 90 on its upper face. An IC card 200 can be inserted from the insertion ports formed on both sides of the body 10 in any direction of arrows E, F. The tip part of the card 200 inserted in the arrow F direction is positioned by a stopper arranged in the vicinity of the arrow E direction insertion port. On the stopper position, the contact 202 of the card 200 comes into contact with an electric contact of the body side. An electric contact is arranged also on a body side position corresponding to the insertion of the IC card 200 in the arrow E direction.
