ACTIVE MATRIX TYPE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dielectric breakdown in thin film transistors even when a black matrix is made of an insulating material. SOLUTION: This panel 1 consists of transparent substrates and a liquid crystal layer held between these. Thin film transistors are formed on the surface of the out side transparent substrate which faces the liquid crystal layer, and a black matrix 6 is formed on the surface of the other side transparent substrate facing the liquid crystal layer. A conductive film is formed along at least one side of the transparent substrate having the black matrix 6 and facing the liquid crystal layer.
