Composite element made of rigid plate and glass wool wad

A composite element is claimed, made up of a rigid plate and a wad of glass wool integral with each other. The wad of glass wool is made up of glass fibres distributed three dimensionally in the wad. The glass fibres are produced by an internal centrifugal process and the wad has a volumetric mass of below 60 kg/m<2> and preferably of less than 55 kg/m<2> but greater than 40 kg/m<2>. The majority of the glass fibres have a diameter of less than 5 microns and preferably of between 3 and 4 microns. The wool content of the wad of fibre glass is less than 10 percent. The three dimensional distribution of the glass fibres is obtained by crimping of the wad during its fabrication at a rate of between 1.5 and 6 and preferably between 3 and 3.5. The rigid plate is a plate of plaster onto which the wad of fibre glass is stuck.
