<p>Provided in a casing body (1) are a receiving unit for receiving a printer head, and a sucking unit (6) for sucking ink from a printer head (31) received in the receiving unit. The receiving unit is provided with an abutting portion, which is adapted to abut against a discharge nozzle (32) of the printer head (31). The sucking unit (6) is provided with a supply unit (9), which applies negative pressure to the abutting portion. Negative pressure is applied to the receiving unit whereby ink is sucked from the discharge nozzle (32), which abuts against the abutting portion. A water retentive material (7) is provided on the abutting portion whereby the discharge nozzle (32) on the printer head received in the receiving unit is prevented from becoming dry. Provided are an input unit (23) for selecting a sucking action of the sucking unit (6), and control units (11, 12) for controlling an action of the sucking unit (6) on the basis of an input from the input unit (23), so that cleaning of the printer head can be surely performed in a suitable operating mode by controlling at least a continuous sucking action and a strength of a suction force of the sucking unit (6) on the basis of an input from the input unit (23).</p> |
