A film mounted semiconductor device (8) is applied to a socket (39) therefor by means of a protective carrier (4) from which project four posts (16) arranged in such a way that a line drawn between two opposite posts would pass through the center of the carrier. The film (10) is formed with elongate slots each receiving one of the posts (16) with clearance (36) in the longitudinal direction of the slot but the post (16) closely fitting the slot in its transverse direction. Each post (16) is fitted snugly into a pccket in the socket (39). The slots allow relative movement between the film (10) and the posts (16) to take up dimensional changes resulting from temperature and humidity changes, but as the posts (16) fit the slots in their transverse direction, the film (10), the carrier (4) and the socket (39) are maintained concentric. |
