PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new substance also effective for multiple medicine- resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureu(MRSA) and useful as an antibacterial agent, etc., by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Actinomadura and having an ability to produce the antibacterial substance BE-45722. SOLUTION: A new antibacterial substance BE-45722 (salt) of the formula [R is 2-pyrrolyl group (one to three hydrogen atoms bound to the carbon atoms of the 2-pyrrolyl group may be substituted by one to three chlorine atoms, and the hydrogen atom bound to the nitrogen atom may also be substituted by a methyl group)]. The antibacterial substance is useful as an antibacterial agent having an excellent antlbacterial action against multiple medicine-resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA). The new antibacterial substance is obtained by culturing a microorganism [e.g. Actinomadura SP-A 45722 (FERM-15194)] belonging to the genus Actinomadura and having an ability to produce the compound of the formula or its variant in a culture medium. |
