<p>A vulcanized rubber composition capable of gripping a frozen snow surface satisfactorily owing to the feature that the hardness thereof varies with the temperature and the pressure, capable of not damaging the exposed road surface, free from abrasion and having a long lifetime, and an appliance such as a spike using the same are provided. A vulcanized rubber composition containing a uniform mixture of a first polymer having a glass transition temperature of not lower than 0 °C and a second polymer having a glass transition temperature of lower than 0 °C, characterized in that this composition is a temperature and pressure sensitive vulcanized rubber composition containing such amounts of first and second polymers that the composition has a feature that it has a transition point between about -5 °C and about 15 °C; it is elastic at a temperature not lower than the transition point and rigid at a temperature of lower than the transition point when the pressure is not more than about 100 kgf/cm2; and it is elastic at a temperature of not lower than about -30 °C when the pressure is not less than about 300 kgf/cm2.</p> |
