<p>An incandescent lamp (1) connected to a socket (11) has a glass tube (2) having sealed ends (5) on opposite side. A substantially U-shaped lead (4a) connected to a filament (3) inside the glass tube (2) is projected through each of the sealed ends (5). The socket (11) has a body (12) that includes a base (21) and a pair of socket members (22) that protrude from both ends of the base (21). Each socket member includes an end-receiving groove (27a) and a lead-receiving groove (27b) for receiving the sealed end (5) and the lead (4a) respectively. Each socket member further includes a terminal (13) with a pair of power supply contacts (34) protruding in the lead-receiving groove (27b). When the incandescent lamp (1) is connected, the sealed ends (5) of the lamp (1) are fitted into the end-grooves (27a). This easily positions the leads (4a) so that they can be engaged with the contacts (34) in the lead-receiving grooves (27b).</p> |
