RETAINING FILTER, PLANT AND METHOD FOR TREATING EFFLUENTS

A filter for removing bacterial contaminants from effluents, wherein filtering means comprise two mutually facing and spaced apart networks of pipes connected to the filter inlet and the filter outlet for distribution and drainage (14) respectively, and provided with perforations distributed lengthwise along the transverse walls of said pipes. Filter means (16) between the two pipe networks (13, 14) consist of a layer of sand with a size distribution curve within the range defined by A.F.N.O.R. DTU no. 64-1, Ref. P16-603, and remove a substantial part of the bacterial contaminants from the effluent passing through the filter. Distribution means connected to the distribution pipe network (13) deliver the water to be treated to the filter means (16).
