METHOD FOR RENEGOTIATING ATM NETWORK TRAFFIC AGREEMENT PARAMETERS DURING COMMUNICATION

A method for renegotiating ATM network traffic agreement parameters during communication over said network, wherein (a) the maximum length that a virtual queue fed by communication traffic would reach for at least one given queue exit rate is predicted for a predetermined time period between two consecutive renegotiations, (b) one or more fresh traffic agreement parameters are deduced from said maximum length, and (c) negotiation is resumed with the network on the basis of said traffic parameter(s) for said time period.
