The novel feature in an aqueous coating composition containing a film-former and/or adhesive and/or surfactant is that there is also present 0.1-3 wt.% of a catalytic material. Use is claimed of the composition (which may be e.g. a size or finish) for the surface treatment of glass, carbon or aramid filaments, fibres, etc., to be used in epoxy resin-based fibre-reinforced composites. Preferably the catalytic material is a tert. amine, phosphonium compound, imidazole derivative, phenol derivative, perchlorate, urea derivative or organo-metallic compound. |
