PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate uneven brightness and uneven color on a projecting surface to improve a color characteristic by arranging a power supply wire on the reflecting mirror opening part side of a lamp or a starting auxiliary conductor in the joint of lenses in which a lens plate which is a uniform illumination optical element is arranged, so as to overlap. SOLUTION: A short arc metal halide lamp device (SHL) is constituted with only a light emitting tube 1, main electrodes 2a, 2b are sealed at both sides, combined with a rotating parabolic mirror, and the light emitting tube 1 is arranged so that both edges are positioned on the bottom side and the opening part side of the reflecting mirror 5, then horizontally lit. The SHL is used within a projection type display device, and a uniform optical element containing at least one lens plate in which a plurality of lenses are arranged in a surface circle vertical to an outgoing beam axis before color-decomposing the light emitted from the SHL is arranged within the display device. A power supply wire 7 on the reflecting mirror opening part side of the SHL and a starting auxiliary conductor 8 are wired in the joint of the lenses in which the lens plate is arranged so as to overlap. |
