PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set in which connection control with a base station is hardly failed. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set (mobile station) 50 measures the reception level of a control channel corresponding to base stations 41-43 (radio zones) and stores plural channels in the higher order of the reception level. The portable telephone set 50 sends a connection request signal to the base stations 41-43 through a control channel by which radio zone identification information is normally received at a maximum level and monitors whether or not the signal is normally received. When the connection control is failed, the telephone set 50 selects other control channel through which the signal is received at a 2nd or 3rd level and makes control of connection again.
