Precision cutting method for, e.g. sheet metal

The cutting method involves using a tool (11) with cutting edges. Before the cutting edges penetrate the material, the part to be cut is clamped between cutting die and counter die, and the waste material is clamped between cutting plate and stripper. The clamping pressure mainly amounts to 10 per cent of cutting pressure. The cutting tool is located between cutting plate (14) and stripper (9), and is at least partially surrounded by distance pieces (12). The thickness of the distance pieces is mainly the same as that of the workpiece to be cut. The cutting edges of the cutting plate facing the workpiece are chamfered at a set angle.
