Apparatus, system and method is provided in which a primary printer (14)-prepares print data for use by its resident print engine (26), or by an alternate printer (16). The primary printer (14) includes subsystems (22, 24, 28, 30) for receiving original print data from a device (12), such as a computer or scanner, and for converting the original print data into a data format compatible with the alternate printer (16).
