Tunnel drying of roof tile mouldings

A process for drying roof tile mouldings, especially green channelled tile mouldings, in a tunnel drying kiln involves laying the mouldings (1) flat in rows on drying frames (2); placing the drying frames spaced-apart in an inclined position on the kiln cars (3); and after drying, removing the drying frames from the kiln cars and swivelling then into a horizontal position. An installation used has equipment, associated with or downstream of a press, for loading rows of horizontal fresh tile mouldings (1) onto drying frames (2) which can be fixed onto tunnel kiln cars (3). It further includes equipment for tilting the frames (2) into an inclined position before placing on the kiln cars (3). Elements (3a) on the kiln cars (3) are used for arranging the inclined framed (2) so that the kiln cars can be loaded with raised inclined channelled tile mouldings (1) for transport (T) through the tunnel drying kiln, the individual frames being spaced apart in a removable arrangement on the kiln cars (3).
