A continuous press (3) has a top part (4) with heated plate (5) and a bottom part (6) with bottom heated plate (7). The top and bottom press parts incorporate continuously circulating, motor-driven steel plate pressure belts (8) forming a gap (9) between them. The steel plate pressure belts are supported on the press plates by means of continuously circulating, motor-driven roller units (10). At least one of the steel plate pressure belts has recesses (11) in the form of grooves extending longitudinally towards the mat of pressed material (2). The recesses form raised macroscopic structured elements in the surface of the wooden panel.
