The testing device has a test head carrier (1) supporting at least two test-heads (4,8,10), coupled to the surface of the relatively displaced pipeline (12) via a chamber (22) containing a coupling fluid, sealed by an elastic foil (23) which is transparent to the ultrasonic waves. The test-heads are relatively angled so that their sound axes intersect at a point (31) coinciding with the pipeline surface, each communicating with the coupling chamber via an individual channel (13,17,21).
