PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the dimensional accuracy of rolled shapes by respectively providing sizers on the inlet side of an intermediate universal mill, the outlet side of an intermediate edger mill and the outlet side of a restraining guide device and controlling rolling conditions based on each measured value. SOLUTION: The size gage S1 is provided on the inlet side of the side of the intermediate universal mill R2 of a rough rolling mill group. The sizer gages S2, S3 are respectively provided on the outlet side of the intermediate edger mill E2 and the outlet side of the restraining guide device GF. The measured value of the size gage S1 is fed back to a break down mill BD and a rough universal mill group and respectively fed forward to the intermediate universal mill R2, intermediate edger mill E2, guide device GR and finishing universal mill F. The value of the size gage S2 is fed forward to the guide device GF on the inlet side of the finishing universal mill F, the value of the size S3 is fed back to all the rolling mills and the edger mills E1, E2 and also fed to the size gage S2.
