Correction of PLL phase noise in PSK or QAM receivers

The receiver includes a mixer (2) which receives a carrier and provides an IF signal at its output which is applied to a demodulation stage (12). The mixer includes a PLL circuit (4) which generates a given frequency signal. A digital correction stage (14) corrects phase noise by extracting a noise signal which is generated by the PLL circuit in the mixer and compensates for the noise which exists in the demodulation circuit. The phase noise correction circuit includes an A/D converter (34).
