PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and inexpensively identify a body to be identified with the small number of identification sensors. SOLUTION: An identification pattern 4 is imparted by the presence/absence of identification holes 3 to the plural points separated for a prescribed pitch of the body 1 to be identified, the body 1 to be identified is transferred along a transfer path 5 parallel to the identification pattern 4 and light or an ultrasonic wave is transmitted in a direction crossing the transfer path 5 from one side of the transfer path 5. Then, the identification pattern 4 of the body 1 to be identified is identified by whether or not the light or the ultrasonic wave is received on the other side of the transfer path 5.
