PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive material carrying roll which is made of stainless steel and excellent in carrying ability and low in cost. SOLUTION: The roller body 12 of a carrying roller is formed of a stainless pipe 18 which is made by rolling up a stainless steel plate having thickness (t) of 1.0-1.2mm and bead welding it, and cut to a prescribed length L. A weld bead 24 is therefore formed on the inner circumference of the roller body. In a carrying roller, the roller body is uniformly roughed by buffing so that surface roughness Ra may be 0.2-1.5μm, and a shaft end member 16 is pressed and fixed in the roller body by only chamfering the shaft end part. Since the carrying roller is thin in the thickness, the moment of inertia is low, and since the outer periphery of the roller body is uniformly roughed, when it comes into contact with a sheet film, a scratch or the like is not caused on the surface of the sheet film by the partial rising of bearing pressure and a slip.
