Linear motor with integrated cooling e.g. for production machines

A linear motor has a longer secondary than the primary in the movement direction. Both are laminated, the primary having slots for a single phase or multiphase winding and the secondary having conductor bars. Coolant flows through pipes in both primary and secondary. These pipes (8) are in slots on the surface at the backs i.e. not on the sides facing the airgap. The coolant slots are transverse, parallel and inclined to the movement direction and the pipes are pressed into them. Some pipes run zigzag-wise with start and finish on opposite sides of the primary or secondary whereas others start and finish on the same side.
