The flowmeter (1) has a measuring tube (2), driven by a drive unit (6). An active compensation unit (9,10,9',10') compensates for vibrations. The compensating unit acts on the tube, between the support points (3,4) of the tube. The compensating unit is designed as an inertia compensating unit. The compensating unit is disengaged from the housing (5). The compensating unit has at least one mass (15,16) for each tube end, which can be shifted by a drive unit (17,17'). One of the freedom axes of a movement of the mass is essentially parallel to the linear extension of the tube.
