PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an arrangement, at which no staining develops in light detecting means and a device, in which proper image forming conditions are set at the image adjustment of a color image forming device, by a method wherein image forming conditions are set by reading the toner image formed on a transfer belt with the light detecting means. SOLUTION: Light detecting means for setting the image forming conditions of a process member such as RS as a resist detecting means, DS as a density detecting means, TS as a transfer toner density detecting means and the like are provided on the bottom surface of a transfer belt 14a so as to be opposite to the transfer belt 14a. At the setting of color image forming conditions, the feeding of transfer material is inhibited and a toner image is formed on a photo- sensitive drum 10 as the image forming body. Further, the formed toner image is transferred onto the transfer belt 14a. Furthermore, the toner image forming on the transfer belt 14 is read by the light detecting means, RS, DS and TS so as to set the image forming conditions. Since the photo-sensitive drum 10 is not close to the light detecting means RS, DS and TS, the light detecting means scarcely stained by toner and can withstand long-term use. |
