PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickling device and pickling method capable of more effectively executing pickling and shortening the pickling time. SOLUTION: A scale breaker 6 for applying elongation to a strip S is installed on the inlet side of a pickling vessel 10 and bending devices 7 for subjecting the strip S immersed in an acid liquid to bend are installed to the pickling vessel 10. A plastic elongation rate of 0.1 to 10% is applied to the strip S before entering the pickling vessel 10 to form crack in the scale. Bending is then applied on the strip S in such a manner that the surface distortions of the strips attain 0.2 to 1 times the plastic elongation rate while the strip is kept immersed in the acid liquid in the pickling vessel 10, by which the crack is opened and closed and the supply of the fresh acid liquid and the squeezing out of the old acid liquid are executed. As a result, the scale eventually comes into contact with the fresh acid liquid at all times and, therefore, the scale dissolution reaction is expedited and the pickling time is shortened. |
