摘要 An apparatus for converting an analyte of a sample into an atomised state has an electrically heated hollow body furnace (1) with a secondary surface (50) on which the analyte of the sample can be condensed before it is converted into the atomised state for analysis. The furnace has first (10) and second (20) sections, which can be electrically heated independently of one another, and the secondary surface (50) is formed by a surface of the first section (10). Also claimed is a process for atomising an analyte of a sample to be investigated using a hollow-body furnace as described above. After deposition of the analyte on a surface of the second section (20) of the furnace, the surface is electrically heated so that the analyte is transferred via the gas phase onto a secondary surface (50) of the first section (10), which is maintained at a temperature which permits condensation of the analyte onto it. The temperature of the secondary surface (50) of the first section (10) is then raised to that of the second section (20), so that the analyte is desorbed and atomised.
