Equipment for pressing metal components into plastic parts includes an integrated metal part isolating and heating unit (36) which takes a metal part from a supply tube (22), heats it and transfers it on a mandrel (16) to a guiding sleeve (18) which is allowed to move slightly in the axial direction compared to the other parts of the equipment. Positional accuracy of the equipment relative to a plastic part is effected by sensing guide sleeve movement with a switch which indicates when the guide sleeve (18) contacts the plastic part. Preferably the isolating and heating unit (36) comprises a heating plate (44) lateral to the guide sleeve (18) axis with a bore (46) surrounded by a heater (48) and a reciprocating slide (54) with a tongue (50, 52) above and below the heating plate (44) with axially offset bores (58, 60). In a first end position of the slide (54) the bore (58) in the upper tongue (50) receives a metal component from the supply tube (22) while the lower tongue (52) receives a heated metal part from the heated bore (46) in the heating plate (44) and in a second end position the metal part in the bore (58) of the upper tongue (50) is transferred to the heated bore (46) while the heated metal part in the bore (60) of the lower tongue (52) is transferred to the guiding sleeve (18).
