The planar coil shown has four windings (1) produced by a silk screen process, and mounted on a non-conducting substrate. Other conductors (2) are arranged in parallel to these windings, both on the inside and the outside of the coil, and also between the windings. These other conductors (2) act as a screen and are thinner than the winding (1), but they could be as thick or even thicker. There are holes (3) in the substrate to provide a conducting path to the underside of the substrate, and also to break into the screen at specific points (4), but these can be at any location. At the inner end of the coil, there is a through-contact (3) to the screening conductors (2). This screen can be provided in other ways.
