The invention concerns equipment for the measurement of the range and/or position of an object relative to the observation point. The equipment has an optical ranging device (3), an imaging device (5) designed to record an image of the object (19), and a processing unit (7) to which the image signals produced by the imaging device (5) are fed. From the range measured by the ranging device (3) and the position of the object (19) in the recording of the image, the processing unit (7) determines the actual position of the object (19). The invention also concerns a method of determining the position of an object (19) relative to a particular observation point, the optical ranging device (3) providing the range from the observation point to the object (19). The image of the object (19) recorded from the observation point is used to determine the coordinates of the object (19) in a plane parallel to the image plane, the third coordinate being determined from the range and the two other coordinates. |
