PURPOSE:To increase the overall processing speed with a multiplying device by using a ROM to shorten the processing time needed for production of a partial product. CONSTITUTION:A computer 11 consists of a CPU 11a, a RAM 11b and a ROM 11c for storage of programs. A ROM 2 stores the results of multiplications. Both the CPU 11a and the ROM 12 form a partial product calculating means which decomposes at least one of a multiplicand X and a multiplier Y into the sum of >=2 numerical values and then obtains a partial product through the table conversion of the ROM and by means of the decomposed value with which the product X.Y can be obtained. While the CPU 11a forms a multiplication control/addition means that performs the overall multiplication control and addition of plural partial products. |
