A method of manufacturing a panel unit (1) (figure 4 - not shown) constituted of a panel 2 and a frame (3) provided on the periphery of the panel is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a first die 11 having a molding groove defined by portions 12 a , 12 b and a panel receiving space formed therein by portions 9 a , 9 b , and a second die 21 engageable with the first die 11 and having a molding groove 24 formed therein, mounting the first die 11 on the periphery of the panel 2, engaging the second die 21 with the first die 11 to form on the periphery of the panel 2 a molding space 13 defined by grooves 12 a , 12 b , 24 of which the cross-sectional configuration corresponds to that of the frame (3), extruding molding material into the molding space 13 by feeding moulding material through a feeder pipe 25, extrusion port 23 and engagement channel 22, and applying relative motion between the second die 21 and the first die 11 by means of a robot to move the second die 21 along the first die 11, thereby integrally forming the frame (3) on the periphery of the panel 2. |
