PURPOSE:To retard the formation of inert lithium in charge and to obtain excellent cycle life even in quick charge by specifying the weight per electrode area of LiMn2O4 serving as a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:In a secondary battery using LiMn2O4 as a positive active material, to complete charge within a specified time, if the amount of LiMn2O4 per electrode area is too much large, the current per electrode area, that is charge current density is increased according to increase in charge amount per electrode area. If the amount of LiMn2O4 per electrode area is 18.2mg/cm<2> or below, charge current density is decreased even in quick charge. The conversion of lithium deposited on a negative electrode into an inert state is retarded and the cycle life of a battery is surely lengthened. |
