PURPOSE:To obtain an orienting layer in which liquid crystal molecules are oriented uniformly, by generating misty fine particles of orienting agent soln. comprising an orienting agent dissolved in a solvent formed by ultrasonic vibration or spraying through a nozzle, then heating a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A soln. 4 of an orienting agent is deposited uniformly to the surface of a substrate easily by generating misty fine particles of the soln. 4 comprising the orienting agent dissolved in a solvent by ultrasonic vibration or spraying through a nozzle without requiring heating which causes thermal cracking of the orienting agent or binding of the orienting agent to each other by the heat even if the orienting agent is difficultly evaporable material. The substrate 1 is heated thereafter. By this method, a bonding force of the orienting agent to the substrate and to the orienting agent to each other are enhanced as the solvent is evaporated, and a liquid crystal element having an orienting layer in which liquid crystal molecules are oriented uniformly, is obtd. |
