SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a light source 1, a beam shaping optical system 2 which converts the light beam from the light source into a converged light beam, the rotary polygon mirror 3 which deflects the converged light beam, the transmission optical system 41 which makes the light beam deflected by the rotary polygon mirror 3 incident on the rotary polygon mirror again, and scans a specific scanned surface with the scanning light beam obtained by deflecting the light beam from the transmission optical system 41 again by the rotary polygon mirror 3. At this time, the image formation point of the converged light beam is positioned between the 1st reflecting surface of the rotary polygon mirror 3 where the light beam is made incident for the first time and the 1st lens 41 of the transmission optical system. Or the margin on the 2nd reflecting surface 32 to the light beam is made larger than that on the 1st reflecting surface 31.
