PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting wire excellent in the critical current density characteristic. SOLUTION: A superconducting wire having an excellent superconducting characteristics is manufactured by the jelly roll method, when an Nb/Al laminate composite is formed from an Al sheet 2 and an Nb sheet 1 which are processed thin, wherein the total degree of processing (section area ratio) should be over 1.5×10<6> , and Al is dispersed in Nb. At this time, a hydrostatic extrusion is adopted in shaping a single-core wire after the formation of the Nb/Al laminate composite.
