PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably keep the surface shape of a board at the piled welding parts of sheets by controlling the center of rotating circle of arc so as to position to an objective position and automatically copying the torch. SOLUTION: There is a very good correlation between differenceΔS of the integrated value of the variation in arc voltages at the rotating positions of two specified angle ranges and the objective position. Thereafter, the relation between the differenceΔS of the integrated value of the variation in the arc voltages and the objective position shown in the figure is made to a reference, and in the case the difference of the integrated value of the variation in the arc voltages is differed to the specified objective position at the time of executing the welding, it means that shift by a specified distance from the suitable objective position. Then, the differenceΔS of the integrated value of the variation in the arc voltage shown in the figure and the difference of the integrated value of the variation in the actual arc voltage are compared and the difference between both, i.e., the distance to be corrected from the shifting distance, is calculated, and the correction in the direction crossing at the right angle to the welding line is suitably executed by shifting the torch by this distance.
