The assembly consists of fixed (26) and sliding (24) rails. A masking member (28S) partially covers the rails and has a lengthwise slot for components connecting the moving rail to the seat. The slot has, in certain seat positions, a forward portion which is covered by the seat and as rear portion which is uncovered for a variable length, depending on the seat position. The rear open portion of the slot has a shutter (56) in the general shape of a strip. One end of it is fixed to the moving rail, while the other is retracted into a cavity in a lengthwise extension of the fixed rail. The shutter is attached to the moving rail by a detachable coupling such as a clip, and fits between lengthwise edges on the masking member.
