The operating switch includes a conducting base plate (16) with conducting patches, representing different functions. A sliding section with lower contact points (12) is mounted on the electrical contact surface. The sliding section has an upper tube (4) with a spring loaded ball bearing (7a). The ball bearing presses up against a notched toothed static track (10). The ball bearing engages in the lower toothed section (10) when the sliding section is moved by a handle (2), or the notch peak (8), and for each position the sliding section ground connections touch separate patches.
