A removable magnetic filter assembly for use in a fluid lubrication system is disclosed herein. The assembly includes a substantially cylindrical magnetic filter housing (12) having a side wall (14). The filter assembly further includes magnetic band (30) affixed within a magnetic band engaging channel (28) in the housing for magnetically attracting metallic particles from fluid flow through the filter assembly.
